Frequently Asked Questions
What is Coaching?
Coaching is defined by the International Coaching Federation as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
Is coaching the same as therapy or consulting?
No, coaching is focused on the present and future and closing the gap from where you are to where you want to be. I believe that you are complete. Therapy is focused on healing emotional trauma from the past, whether from childhood or recent years. Therapy often assumes you have an illness. There is certainly a place for both in the world. Consulting is where an expert in a field helps the client to acquire knowledge. I do mix a bit of consulting in with my coaching, when appropriate, especially with corporate clients.
What is the focus of coaching?
How long is a coaching engagement?
I’m pretty successful already. Why would I want to hire a life coach?
What does Ontological mean?
Ontological is sometimes defined as dealing with the nature of being.
In the context of my coaching practice, I am always listening for the context and meaning behind what is being said. We always express more than our words. This is the “trees for the forest” perspective. It informs curiosity and helps me show you to you, to broaden and allow leaps in perspective.
